As a music instructor, business coach and mentor my mission is to help you with the "tuff stuff", but sometimes when it comes to answers to fundamental questions (i.e. "how do I chose a domain name") I like to arm my students and team members with this simple but useful tool:

There's no substitute for becoming empowered, if not better informed, by researching and discovering the answers to questions on your own.
For instance, our beginning guitar students must learn the basics of using a pick to strum and play (pick) notes. There are only two basic hand movements that are required of the picking hand to do this and it happens automatically and naturally: down or up. However, the student must "master" the art of INTENTIONALLY being able to play the string (or strings) needed when the hand moves up and down naturally.
Why? There a a number of benefits but in a nut shell the most important ones are, efficiency, smoothness of sound and ultimately, speed.
Guess how many lessons it takes, with gentle reminders to the student, before they can do that well? For our most diligent students, a couple of weeks. But for the average student it can range from 4 weeks to several months -- until THEY DISCOVER THE VALUE of using that technique for themselves.
What's even funnier is when they pipe up during their lesson with the revelation of what they've just discovered as if they've never heard the information before! Hey, so our sense of humor is a bit warped. But we simply smile and genuinely congratulate them saying that we knew all along they'd eventually get the hang of what we were teaching.
But what's really cool is to see them beam with the satisfaction that they've had a hand in mastering something, and guess what? They take that experience and apply it over and over each time they encounter a new challenge, and after a while their challenges don't seem all that daunting and their truly excited to learn and discover more AND share their new-found knowledge and skills with their friends!
"When the Student is Ready, the Teacher Will Appear".
